Bergen Concentrated
OCD Treatment
We are pleased to offer the Bergen Concentrated OCD Treatment, a concentrated treatment program, consistent with the Bergen 4-Day Treatment (B4DT) model.

Since December 2024, Melbourne MindCare has been delivering this concentrated treatment approach in Melbourne. Nathan Dowling co-led the first pilot of the B4DT in Melbourne and has since been leading the piloting and implementation of this treatment approach, helping expand access to evidence-based care for individuals experiencing OCD.
The B4DT is an internationally recognised, evidence-based, concentrated treatment program for OCD, compressing the most effective elements of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) into four consecutive days. This structured and immersive format allows individuals to engage intensively with treatment while receiving close therapist support, and has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes.

At Melbourne MindCare (MMC), we are proud to be among the first clinics in Australia to offer this concentrated treatment approach. Our clinicians have completed advanced training and formal accreditation under the mentorship of Prof. Bjarne Hansen and Prof. Thröstur Björgvinsson, leaders in the development, training, and dissemination of the B4DT model.
If you would like to learn more about this treatment approach or explore whether it may be suitable for you, please email us.

Initial Assessment
We begin with an assessment to understand your experiences with OCD or anxiety, clarify your goals for treatment, and determine whether our approach is the right fit for you.

Preparation Phase
If a concentrated treatment approach is being considered, we conduct 2–3 preparation sessions to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and create an individualised treatment plan.

Active Treatment
Treatment may involve individual therapy or the Bergen Concentrated OCD Treatment, an intensive, evidence-based program designed to support meaningful progress within a focused treatment period.

Consolidation and Follow-Up
Following active treatment, we focus on consolidating skills, strengthening progress, and supporting long-term change.
How Treatment Works

Individual Therapy
At Melbourne MindCare (MMC), we offer individual therapy grounded in evidence-based psychological treatments, with a strong focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, and related conditions.
Our clinicians specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—the gold-standard treatment for OCD. Therapy is delivered in a structured and personalised way, helping you develop practical skills to make meaningful and lasting change.
Because these difficulties often overlap with challenges such as depression, trauma, or life stress, we may also integrate complementary approaches where appropriate, including:
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Schema Therapy
• Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
• Prolonged Exposure (PE)

Whether you are starting therapy for the first time or seeking specialised support, our aim is to help you feel more empowered, connected, and confident in your everyday life.
Individual therapy can also serve as preparation for more intensive treatment options, including the Bergen Concentrated OCD Treatment, when a concentrated approach may be appropriate.

Training & Supervision
At Melbourne MindCare (MMC), we are committed to supporting the professional development of psychologists and mental health practitioners through high-quality clinical supervision and training.
Nathan Dowling, Principal Clinical Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor, provides supervision grounded in evidence-based practice and real-world clinical experience, with a particular focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and related presentations.
Supervision aims to support clinicians in developing clinical confidence, reflective practice, and advanced therapeutic skills, while maintaining a strong focus on delivering effective, evidence-based care
